Upon receiving a waitlist decision from a highly desired university, what is the MOST constructive action a college advisor should recommend to a student?

The correct answer to the question "Upon receiving a waitlist decision from a highly desired university, what is the MOST constructive action a college advisor should recommend to a student?" is Option C: Submit a thoughtful 'letter of continued interest' (LOCI) highlighting any new achievements and confirming commitment, while also making solid plans for an alternative choice..

The other options — A) Withdraw the application and apply to other schools immediately, as waitlists rarely result in admission., B) Immediately send multiple new letters of recommendation and an updated official transcript without being asked., D) Contact the admissions office daily to inquire about their position on the waitlist and express urgency. — are incorrect for this College Advising question. As explained above: A LOCI can demonstrate continued interest and provide updated information. However, students must also pursue other options, as waitlist acceptances are not guaranteed and often limited.
